Swiftkey X Speeds Up Message Input On The Samsung Galaxy S2

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is a very popular mobile phone that lets users keep in touch with their friends and family via a number of different methods. For people who do not like to conduct an actual phone call then the model is capable of sending e mails, SMS messages and IM messages. One thing all of these services have in common is that the user needs to compose the content on the virtual keypad that the phone boasts. We take a look at SwiftKey X, an excellent piece of software for the Galaxy S2 that helps users who are compiling messages.

SwiftKey X has achieved more than 5 million downloads which helps to illustrate just how useful this application can be. The software is designed to make typing easier on Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S2 and on tablet devices like the Galaxy Tab. The application uses a very clever word prediction engine that helps the handset guess the next word that you are going to type. Obviously it takes time for a phone to learn your personal typing habits so users will find that the more they use this impressive software the more accurate its predictions will become. In addition to predicting the words that you are likely to use it also learns your method of typing to help it accurately correct any typing errors that may occur. SwiftKey X can actually perform scans on your Facebook, Twitter and GMail accounts so it can familiarise itself with your vocabulary and words that you like to use. This helps the software deliver accurate results with the end result being the much quicker composition of messages.

SwiftKey X is one of the best selling applications for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and for a limited time the developers are offering the application with a 25% reduction off the regular price from the Android Marketplace. The latest version of the software features some improvements over older versions. One of the main changes on this new version is improvements when compiling short and informal messages. Up to 35 different languages can also be supported by the software including Arabic and Hebrew. The Galaxy S2 uses a high quality capacitive touchscreen which measures 4.3inches. Thanks to the large size of this display the SwiftKey X keyboard can use large buttons which proves more effective than the smaller variety that can be found on some models that use smaller displays.

SwiftKey X is the most popular keyboard application for the Samsung Galaxy S2. The impressive software does a great job of learning what you like to say thanks to its use of other accounts on the phone and in turn offers accurate predictions which help you to quickly and easily compile messages.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is available now and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming soon.

Battle Of The Smartphones-The Sony Xperia S And The Samsung Galaxy S2

The new Sony Xperia S smartphone looks destined to be a huge success with consumers thanks to some brilliant specification that includes a high quality display and a superb camera facility. Only time will tell whether this model can overtake the Samsung Galaxy S2 as the leading Android device. We look at both models to see what display technology is incorporated and also to check out the processing power available.

Samsung have always produced high quality mobile displays and several other manufacturers actually purchase Samsung screens for use in their own devices. The Galaxy S2 offers one of the very best screens available. The models makes use of a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display that produces a vivid image that many devices struggle to match. The phone works well in natural sunlight and the viewing angles are also very impressive which is ideal if you are sharing photos and video content with friends and family. The screen can show a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which results in an impressive pixel density of 217 pixels per inch. The new Sony Xperia S uses the same size of screen but one which makes use of LED backlit technology rather than Super AMOLED. Technically the screen on the Samsung is capable of displaying a more vivid image but Sony have compensated for this by allowing their screen to show a superb resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This has a positive effect on pixel density and enables the Xperia S to offer 342 pixels per inch. This makes it the first phone to exceed what the famous Retina Display on the iPhone 4S can offer. Multi Touch support is also more extensive than its rival and can register up to ten individual points of contact on the screen rather than the two that are recognised by the Galaxy S2 and numerous other models. Despite Samsung’s use of Super AMOLED technology they still cannot match the overall screen quality that is offered on the Sony Xperia S.

At its time of release the Samsung Galaxy S2 was the fastest phone available thanks to a powerful 1.2Ghz processor that forms part of the excellent Exynos chipset. This package also incorporates a high quality graphics processing unit in the shape of the Mali 400MP chip. This chip ensures that users can enjoy a superb gaming experience on the device. Despite not being the most powerful processor available the S2 still performs at great speeds thanks to the quality of the processor and the power efficiency of the software package that the phone uses. The Sony Xperia S uses a more powerful dual core 1.5Ghz Qualcomm processor together with a Adreno 200 graphics processing unit. Despite the model offering more processing power in actual use there is very little to choose between the two phones in terms of operation speeds. This does not reflect badly on Sony, the S2 has always been one of the leading handsets in this department and many models have tried to rival it and failed. What we are looking at here are two of the fastest phones currently available.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was one of the most advanced handsets of 2011 and for this reason the model proved a huge success with consumers. As we move through 2012 several manufacturers are releasing models that eclipse what the S2 can offer and the Sony Xperia S is a great example of such a device.

The Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy S2 are available now.

The Blackberry Bold 9900-One Reason SMS Is Soaring In Popularity

The days when mobile phones were used predominantly for conducting voice calls have disappeared. Modern mobile handsets such as the Blackberry Bold 9900 enable users to keep in touch with friends and family by using a variety of different methods including e mail and IM services. A recent report suggest that SMS messaging is currently the favoured method for people to keep in touch with one another, especially with teenagers.

Last year a report was conducted that found that teenagers are sending more text messages than ever before. The Nielsen report found that the average teenager was sending 3417 texts per month. At first glance this number seems very high but when you think about it carefully it equates to around 7 texts per waking hour which actually seems a very realistic figure. Excellent new models such as the Blackberry Bold 9900 and the iPhone 4S make sending texts quicker and easier than ever and this can be partly attributed towards the rise in popularity of the SMS message. The reports also discovered that female teenagers send more messages than their male counterparts with an average of nearly 4000 compared with just 2815 for the boys. The trend of sending messages has had a negative effect on the amount of time that teenagers spend talking on the phone. In 2010 teenagers spent around 685 minutes talking on their mobile phones but in 2011 that figure dropped to just 572 minutes.

Mobile phone manufacturers are fully aware of the popularity of messaging services and many modern handsets boast excellent facilities that help to make them the perfect handsets for composing text messages. The Blackberry Bold 9900 is arguably the ultimate handset for messaging. Blackberry devices are renowned for their messaging facilities and the Bold 9900 is the flagship device in the range. A responsive Qwerty keypad enables the speedy composition of texts and an optical trackpad enables users to perform precise editing on message. If you prefer to trade a physical keypad for a larger screen then the Samsung Galaxy Note is a superb phone. The model features a large 5.3 inch screen which means that it can accommodate a virtual keypad with large keys that help to eliminate typing errors. There is even an adjustment available to enable users to customise the keypad so it is more suited for single handed use.

Many manufacturers focus their attention on providing superb messaging facilities and the Blackberry Bold 9900 and the Samsung galaxy Note are great examples of this. The Blackberry will appeal to fans of physical keypads while the Samsung Galaxy note provides a great virtual keypad on its excellent display.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 and the Samsung Galaxy Note are available now.

The HTC Sensation XL-Model Set To benefit From New Music Platform

In 2011 HTC released two premium smartphones that included a high quality set of Beats Audio headphones. Thanks to the excellent sound quality that is reproduced by these headphones the HTC Sensation XL and XE have become a major success with consumers purchasing a mobile device for its music playback facilities. It now seems that HTC are to join forces with Beats Audio once again to launch a new service providing a huge choice of music to owners of devices such as these.

Music streaming platforms have become increasingly popular over the last 12 months with many consumers happy to pay a small monthly subscription which enables them to access millions of tracks. HTC and Beats Audio are looking at launching a platform of their own which should rival some of the very best that are currently available. The advantage of a service such as this that Beats Audio specialise in enhancing the sound quality of tracks rather than just providing the music. It is hoped that users of this anticipated service will be able to enjoy a huge choice of music with the sound optimised to sound superb on their HTC Sensation XL handset. Jimmy Lovine, chairman of Interscope-Geffen who are heavily involved in the Beats Audio service recently stated “We have very big ambitions for Beats beyond headphones. Music has got to succeed on the phone or else the record industry will never thrive”.

HTC are not the only mobile phone manufacturer who have turned their attention towards providing a music streaming service. Last year Sony launched the Music Unlimited service for Android phones while Blackberry have also recently unveiled their own BBM Music application. Although devices such as the HTC Sensation XL do offer a large internal storage capacity there is obviously a limit to how many songs the device will hold. Streaming services remove this restriction by enabling users to pick and chose the songs they want without having to physically store them onto their device. The service is dependant on a good data connection but this should not prove much of a problem with most areas offering a good 3G signal or WiFi hotspots. The music player that is built in to the phone offers a great alternative to streaming services. It is ideal if you do not want to use up your monthly data allowance and is also perfect for long commutes when streaming may be interrupted by a decrease in signal quality.

The HTC Sensation XL offers superb music facilities and the proposed new Beats Audio streaming service will deliver a huge selection of music to users. The audio enhancement that this new service is set to deliver should see the application prove a huge success with many consumers.

The HTC Sensation XL and the HTC Sensation XE are available now.

This time we look at camera features on both of these models and also see how the models compare in terms of design.

The new Samsung Galaxy S Advance features an improved camera facility from the Galaxy S model that it is based on. Still photography quality is impressive and images can be captured at a resolution of 5 million pixels. As you would expect a wealth of additional features are available to help you capture the highest quality images possible. Auto focus will help ensure that there is minimal blur on any photos and the useful Smile Detection function will take the photograph the moment it detects people smiling. Thanks to the phone incorporating GPS all photographs can also have location details stored about where the snaps were taken. Despite the Galaxy S Advance offering a high quality camera feature the Samsung Galaxy S2 offers a little more in terms of quality in this area. An 8 mega pixel camera captures an incredible quality of image although many of the additional features are the same as can be found on the Advance model. Both handsets offer a secondary front facing camera which is ideal for video calls and both are also capable of capturing still images. The Galaxy S2 can record 2 mega pixel resolution from this camera while the Galaxy S Advance offers just 1.3 mega pixels.

One of the key areas on modern smartphones is design. A great looking device will always grab the customers attention while a more dated design will often be overlooked. The Galaxy range of devices are famous for their stylish looks and both of these handsets do not disappoint in this area. The Galaxy S Advance looks very similar similar to the original Galaxy S device. The handset measures 123.2 x 63 x 9.7mm which makes the phone one of the most compact currently available. The iPhone 4S Is The Perfect Twitter Device

When the new iPhone 4S was launched in 2011 the new model boasted a number of improvements over its predecessor. One of the big changes that attracted many users to this device was the integration of social networking site Twitter into the phones operating system. It now seems that more people than ever are picking up there mobile phone to send a Tweet or simply to check what is happening in the world around them.

Recently one of the biggest sporting events in the world was broadcast live on television. Millions of fans across the world tuned in to watch the New York Giants take on the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, American Footballs show piece event. What is even more surprising is that during this game Twitter achieved a new record for Tweets posted per second. During the final three minutes of this game there was an average of ten thousand Tweets per second. This is because many people now own device such as the iPhone 4S which allows people to quickly post data without needing to switch on a laptop computer or even leave their chair in front of the television. Recent statistics show that 43% of Twitter users regularly check their account form their smartphone. The excellent connectivity options boasted by models such as the 4S enables user to quickly check the opinions of their friends or post their own Tweets without really taking their eyes off the television.

It seems as though television broadcasters are very aware of the fact that many people now refer to sites such as Twitter before other forms of media such as newspapers and the internet. Viewers are encouraged to contact the broadcasters via the social networking site and numerous stars and celebrity’s have their own accounts to keep in touch with their followers. This boom in popularity grabbed the attention of Apple as well and they ensured that the new iPhone 4S featured more Twitter features than ever before. The new notifications system instantly informs users of alerts from the site and any locations that you are visiting can be instantly posted to your profile. The uploading of media has also been made easier by the phones camera feature enabling photographs and videos to be posted directly to your Twitter account.

The Sony Xperia S And The Galaxy S Advance-A Comparison of Styling

Two of the leading smartphones manufacturers in the world are undoubtedly Samsung and Sony. Both of these companies have produced some excellent handsets and both manufacturers are launching new devices in the coming weeks. We take a look at the Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy S Advance to see what camera features are on offer and how the devices compare in terms of design.

The modern smartphone offers a comprehensive multi media package with most devices capable of capturing both high quality still photographs and excellent video footage. Both of the models that we are looking at fail to disappoint in this department. The Sony Xperia S boasts what is perhaps the best digital still camera of any phone currently available. The models incorporates a superb 12 mega pixel primary camera together with a 1.3 mega pixel secondary unit. On the main camera a number of features help to enhance the final image and the excellent Exmor R CMOS sensor helps the model to achieve fantastic results. Users will appreciate the autofocus facility that ensures that images look as clear as possible while the 3D Panorama mode lets you capture images of a 360 degree view. In terms of video recording the model boasts 1080P resolution to provide the user with HD quality results. The Samsung Galaxy S Advance is more of a mid range device and therefore the camera resolution is a little lower than what we experienced on the Sony. The 5 mega pixel camera still manages to produce a wonderful quality of image and the whole photographic process is made easier by features such as an LED flash and autofocus. The secondary camera matches the Sony for resolution but the video capture is a slightly lower resolution of 720P.

There is no doubt that both of these handsets are attractive devices. The Galaxy S Advance uses the same body as the original Galaxy S which still looks very modern considering it is nearly two years old. The phone offers a very slim depth of just 9.7mm while the extensive use of lightweight plastics means that the model weighs in at an impressive 120 grammes. The slim design is complimented by neatly curved edges that give the model an eye catching and pleasant appearance. The new Sony Xperia S boasts a totally different design which favours a more angular appearance over curves. This design works well with the incredibly slim profile of the device which measures just 10.6mm. The model is 22 grammes heavier than the Samsung but this can be forgiven as the phone does incorporate a much larger display. A transparent band is positioned toward the bottom of the device which makes the model stand out against the majority of other phones currently available.

The Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy S Advance are both very stylish smartphones but the Sony impresses more than its rival when it comes to camera facilities. The 12 mega pixel camera and the 1080P video recording ensure that this model is one of the very best available in this area.

The Sony Xperia S is coming soon and the Samsung Galaxy S2 is available now.

The iPhone 4S uses a high quality screen which makes the device perfect for viewing video content on the phone. The only problem encountered by some users is when the video file that they are trying to view is not in a format that is recognised by Apple and therefore the phone refuses to play the content. A new application is available for this phone that acts as a true multi media player capable of playing back a wealth of content on your device.

Air AV is a new application available from the iTunes App Store that helps users overcome problems in playing back a variety of video files. Several video playback applications are now available but we were drawn to AirAv as it does not concentrate on filling up your valuable storage space with large files. AirAV uses the WiFi connection on your iPhone 4S to find content that is available on other devices connected on your network. When you launch the application for the first time your network is scanned and a list of devices that can share material is displayed on the phone. These devices can range from a laptop or home computer to recording devices with streaming capabilities. Simply tapping on any one of these items allows you to browse the compatible content that is stored on it. When we tested the application we were impressed with the sheer number of different file formats that were supported. We encountered no problems in playing back AVI, MP3, WMV and FLAC content.

The AirAV application for the iPhone 4S can also connect to a range of media servers which can store a huge amount of material for distribution around your home. We tapped into our Sony PS3 with no problems at all and the developers quote that almost all servers can be used with this application including Linux and XMBC powered units. So we have established that this new application can connect to just about any piece of equipment connected to a home network but what about the quality of the playback? We found no issues in this area and playing back video files was not only very fast but the quality was superb. Files played back almost instantly and users can select which point of the file they want to start their playback from. The fact that the application does not enable you to compile playlists is a slight disappointment however this can be forgiven thanks to the wealth of files formats available and the quality that is on offer.

The iPhone 4S is a super phone for viewing movie content and the AirAV application enhances this experience. Streaming of content is very simple and the quality rivals what what you would expect if the file was stored directly on the handset.

The iPhone 4S and the HTC Sensation XL are available now.

The New Motorola Razr-A Review Of The Impressive Airbind App

The Android operating system is the most popular mobile OS in the world with million of users owning handsets like the Motorola Razr that run on this popular platform. A new application is available for phones like this that lets users synchronise music to their phone without using the official Android software.

As a portable music player the Motorola Razr is a superb device but many users like to use alternative software for managing their music on a PC or laptop. The best example of this is the excellent iTunes software from Apple that is designed to work with the iPhone 4S. Many users like the easy interface offered by iTunes and also if other devices such as Apple TV are owned then iTunes needs to be an integral part of the set up. The new Airbind application is available from the Android Marketplace and enables users to synchronise their iTunes music library with their Razr phone. The software works over a WiFi connection so users need to ensure that both their home computer and phone are connected to the same router. Once you have installed the application and also the desktop client a notification will pop up on your handset display asking if you want to synchronise content. Just confirm this transfer and all you files from your computer are sent wirelessly to the phone. You will find difficulty in transferring certain content such as tracks that contain DRM content so it is worth bearing this in mind when downloading material.

The new Airbind application is a really useful addition to the the Motorola Razr but even without it the phone still offers some superb audio facilities. The Razr incorporates a large internal storage capacity of 16GB which is enough to hold around 4000 tracks which is more than enough for most users. If you still find this storage restrictive the phone features a microSD card slot which can accept cards up to 32GB in size. With the addition of one of these cards your total track storage can be expended to 12000 songs. A 3.5mm headphone socket is included on the model which means that users can use headphones of their choice with this model. The Razr does come supplied with a basic pair of headphones but most serious music fans are likely to replace these with a pair that can provide a better frequency range. A simple music player application comes installed on the model that allows music to be controlled and sorted easily. Playlists can be created on the phone and music can be played in the background to enable other tasks to be carried out at the same time.

The new Airbind application for the Motorola Razr is an impressive application that will give thousands of consumers the opportunity to use iTunes software with this model. The phone also provides a wealth of great features that make it a perfect smartphone for music playback.

The Motorola Razr and the iPhone 4S are available now.

An Introduction To Cameras Options On The Samsung Galaxy S3 And The S Advance

Samsung are refreshing their 2012 range of models with two exciting new handsets that look destined to be a success with consumers. The new Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S Advance both boast some superb features combined with modern styling. We take a look at the media facilities likely to be featured in these two models and also see how the two devices may compare in terms of design.

Although we have no official confirmation on the specification for the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 rumours seem to suggest that we will see this model offering a high quality 12 mega pixel digital still camera. This feature is likely to be accompanied by a host of facilities that have become standard features on modern premium smartphones. Autofous will definitely be included as will a dual LED flash to help users achieve the best possible results in poor lighting conditions. Users will have the opportunity to add a geographical location tag on all images by utilising the GPS receiver that will be incorporated in the model. A high quality video capture feature will record footage in 1080P quality which is currently the maximum resolution that can be achieved. For video calls a secondary front facing camera will be featured and this is likely to also be able to record still photographs at a resolution of around 2 million pixels. Specification has been confirmed on the new Galaxy S Advance model. Still photographs are captured at 5 million pixel resolution which is considerably lower than what the S3 will offer but it is worth remembering that this model is pitched as a cheaper option for consumers who do not require the very latest technology. The usual array of extras are present including Face Detection and a powerful LED Flash. Video footage can be recorded at 720P quality which is technically classified as High Definition and the front facing camera can record 1.3 mega pixel still images.

With no official pictures yet released for the Samsung Galaxy S3 there is much speculation about the appearance of the device. One thing that we are certain of is that the model will be much slimmer than the Galaxy S2 that was released last year and that the model is also likely to be one of the slimmest phones on the market. Many reports suggest that the model will measure around 7mm in depth although the width and height measurements are likely to increase slightly due the larger screen set to be fitted in the model. Samsung favour the use of strengthened plastics on their devices so expect this type of material to be used once again which means that the handset will weigh a lot less than models that use heavier metallic materials. The Galaxy S Advance uses the same chassis as the Samsung Galaxy S which means that it offers a slim 9.7mm depth and weighs just 120 grammes. The black gloss finish looks modern and the minimal bezel that surrounds the display gives the device a very stylish and minimal appearance.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the handset that many smartphone fans have been looking forward to but the Galaxy S Advance may strike a chord with consumers looking for great features at a more wallet friendly price.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming soon and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available now.

Evi App Works Like A Dream On The iPhone 4S

The new Evi application for the iPhone 4S provides users with a wealth of information which you can access by speaking to your phone. Unlike the built in Siri application the software cannot be used to send text message and e mails but it can prove an invaluable application for answering questions and providing you with facts and figures.

Evi on the iPhone 4S uses location based services on the phone to only give you information that it relevant to you. If you tell the phone that you want to eat some Thai food the software will analyse this request and provide you with list of restaurants and takeaways that are close to your current location. The application is developed by True Knowledge and the makers claim that the software has access to over a billion facts which means that a detailed response can be given to just about any question. Other voice recognition service may suggest conducting a web search as a response to certain questions while Evi will present you with a number of links that are relevant. Obviously the main selling point of the application is that it is voice activated however there may be circumstances where it is not practical to speak into your handset. For times such as these there is a text input mode available which enables you to simply type the question that you need an answer for. Evi also holds information on a huge number of locations all over the world. This means that you could be in the California or London and you should get accurate locations of a variety of services and amenities.

The Evi application for the iPhone 4S incorporates its own browser which means that when you want to click on a link you can do so without ever leaving the application. The software uses a very simple interface that is incredibly easy to navigate. At the bottom of the screen you are presented with a search bar with a microphone icon placed to the left hand side of it. When you want to ask your phone a question simply tap the microphone icon and speak into the phone. If you need to type the question then simply tapping on the search bar will reveal the keypad. Once you question has been analysed you are presented with a screen that resembles the conversation style format that is used by the messaging facility on the phone. Your question appears in one box and the reply in a separate box placed below it. If you want to ask a further question related to the same subject this will be placed beneath your first response and it continues like this until you have all the information you require. Each Evi response has a Like and Dislike button so that you can easily rate the answer to help the service improve in the future.

The Evi application is an excellent voice navigated search facility for the iPhone 4S. Not only does this great software provide accurate answers but it also provides you with relevant data relating to venues that are near to your current location.

The iPhone 4S and the HTC Sensation XE are available now.

The HTC Sensation XL-A Superb New Music Service That Works Well

The new HTC Sensation XL is a mobile device that boasts superior audio performance to many of its rivals thanks to the incorporation of Beats Audio technology. The handset really does excel when playing music files on the music player feature that is installed on the phone and a number of new applications that enable users to stream music to their device also benefit from this enhanced sound. We take a look at the revamped Rdio application that offers super features in this area.

Rdio has been available for several months now but many users found the interface more complicated than what was on offer with alternative applications. The developers took note of this and completely redesigned the app and the end result is very impressive. The main home page highlights tracks that are currently trending with other users and also a selection of new releases. This immediately gives users a chance to experience songs that they may not have ever heard before rather than opting to find artists and songs that they are familiar with. A number of social networking features have also been added which allow you to create your own profile and list your favourite tracks. You have the option to browse other users profiles and can even add them as a friend if they have similar musical tastes to you. This new version of the application also lets you control music playback directly from the lock screen on the Sensation XL which saves the user time and makes the whole user experience much easier.

The Rdio application for the HTC Sensation XL boasts a huge database of songs that cover all genres of music. Over 12 million individual tracks are available and users can choose whether to simply listen to their track of choice or compile a playlist that incorporates it. If you choose to make a playlist this is automatically available every time you log into the service. Rdio is a subscription based service but for a relatively small monthly outlay you have access to a massive selection of music. Once you have signed up you can even access the service from a PC or laptop so you can download music from the site and edit playlists that you have already created. If you find yourself hooked to the service there are even devices available that let you access the facilities on a television while linked to a home audio centre to give you the ultimate sound experience.

The new Rdio application offers some useful new features that make using the service a real pleasure. A massive selection of music is available and the new social features further enhance the appeal of the application. The HTC Sensation XL is the perfect mobile device to use with this service as the audio performance enables you to enjoy your music in the highest possible quality.

An Introduction To Networks Internet Packages For The Samsung Galaxy Note

The Samsung Galaxy Note is the perfect handset for internet browsing. The model offers some excellent connectivity options along with a large screen perfect for viewing all types of online content. A powerful dual core processor ensures that surfing the web is very fast even when viewing multiple web pages. There is one area that can have a negative effect on your browsing experience on this model and that is the mobile network you are using. We take a look at the major UK networks to see which offer the best data allowance packages for this model.

There are several major network providers in the UK and they all offer different data packages that range from unlimited usage to 100MB of data. For those who want to use there Samsung Galaxy Note for a huge amount of mobile internet use then Three offer a truly unlimited allowance. With this contact their are no restrictions on internet use which means that there is no limit on uploads, downloads and streaming. Three have recently stated that the average smartphone user requires approximately 500MB to 1GB of allowance per month which puts them beyond what many providers can offer. One point that is worth considering is that this contract does not support internet tethering. This means if you use your phone to access the web for other devices such as a laptop or tablet device it is not possible on this plan. One company that used to be famous for their unlimited data packages was O2 but unfortunately this has changed. Now consumers have to purchase their data allowance as part of their contract. O2 call this system Bolt Ons and users can choose to have as little as 100MB for £3 per month up to 1GB which will cost £10 in addition to the existing package price.

Some network providers in the UK advertise an unlimited data allowance but there is additional small print that is worth considering. If you want to use your Samsung Galaxy Note for simple browsing then T Mobiles plan places no restrictions however usage is capped at 500MB for uploading and downloading of data. This type of package is fine for checking e mails or catching up with the latest news but if you are looking to post videos on YouTube or Facebook then the 500MB can be eaten up very quickly. Vodafone and Orange are the two remaining services and both of these providers offer tiered packages. Customers can choose the amount of data allowance that is included in their contract but neither provider offers an unlimited option although Orange do offer a 2GB option which should be more than enough for even the most frequent internet user.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a superb model for internet use but users can often be restricted by the data package that they have on their contract. All network providers offer data as part of their package although only Three offer a truly unlimited service with no additional costs.

The Samsung Galaxy Note and the HTC Desire S are available now.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 And The S Advance-How Power Compares On The Two

Samsung are releasing yet another phone in their Galaxy range in the shape of the new Galaxy S Advance. This new model is designed to sit somewhere in the middle of their line up and offers some impressive specification. We take a look at how this new model compares with the Samsung Galaxy S2, the premium device which helped make the Galaxy range so famous.

When we take a look at the screen technology used on both of these models it is the Samsung Galaxy S2 that comes out on top. Despite being nearly one year older than the Galaxy Advance the model still manages to offer a display that can compete with the very latest technology. This 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen reproduces stunning colours and also offers user great viewing angles and superb legibility in sunlight. The screen can show a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which means that the pixel density equates to 217 pixels per inch. The Galaxy S Advance uses a smaller 4 inch screen that can display the same 480 x 800 resolution as the S2. Unfortunately this model only incorporates a Super AMOLED screen which does not perform as well as the Plus variety on the Galaxy S2. The result of this is that the S2 manages to produce the crisper images although in fairness both models offer exceptional quality in this department.

There is also very little to choose between the two models when it comes to processing power but the Samsung Galaxy S2 once again outshines the Galaxy S Advance in this area. When the S2 was released in 2011 it boasted a chipset that was far superior to many rivals and even now the model still manages to shine. The model makes use of the superb Samsung Exynos chipset which includes a very fast 1.2Ghz ARM Cortex A9 dual core processor. Fans of mobile games will appreciate the superb Mali 400MP graphics processing unit that delivers a superb experience on games titles as well as movie playback. The Galaxy S Advance also uses a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor but the power of the chip used on this model is slightly lower than the S2 at 1Ghz. The model uses the same graphics processing unit as the Galaxy S2. For a mid range phone the Advance is a very well equipped model but the extra power available on the S2 means that it offers slightly better performance.

For a mid range mobile phone the Galaxy S Advance is a great model that should prove a more pocket friendly alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S2. If you do not mind spending a little extra however the S2 still offers screen technology and performance to rival the majority of devices currently available.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are available now.

Temple Run On The iPhone 4S Proves Highly Addictive

Every year there seems to be a handful of games launched on the iPhone 4S that go on to become a global sensation. In 2010/11 Angry Birds proved a worldwide hit with millions of users becoming addicted to the simple game play that the title offered. In 2012 it looks as though two equally as addictive titles are becoming a hit with mobile gamers everywhere. We take a look at Temple Run and GlassPong.

Recently Temple Run has become the top grossing game for the iPhone 4S. The title is a free game although users have the option to purchase additional coins which can be exchanged for power ups and character boosts. The principle of Temple Run is quite simple, guide your explorer character through a series of paths and collect coins along the way while trying to travel as far as you possibly can. There are obviously obstacles in your way which you will need to swerve, jump and slide under to avoid. These actions are performed by simply swiping on the screen of the phone or by tilting your handset. To make things a little more interesting there is a pack of hungry creatures chasing you meaning it is important to avoid the obstacles or they will catch up with you and the game will be over. The simple control mechanism helps make this title so appealing and the colourful graphics resemble a console based game rather than a mobile release. If you like to compete with your friends you have the option to post your scores on Twitter at the end of your game.

Another game available for the iPhone 4S that looks destined to be a huge success in 2012 is GlassPong. The idea behind this title is very simple indeed, you have one minute to bounce as many balls as you can into different glasses. An upward swipe on the screen of the 4S launches your ball while tilting the device to the sides enables you to control which direction they are travelling in. During the game occasionally you are presented with a yellow ball which is worth triple points if you can hit your target. Like Temple Run the game is very easy to play and each game only last 60 seconds which is perfect is you have a few minutes to spare. This game does not require any in game purchases with the developers relying on advertising to generate revenue.

Temple Run on the iPhone 4S looks like being the runaway success that Angry Birds was on the iPhone 4. The game looks great and provides hours of fun. GlassPong is a similarly addictive title and the fact that both titles are available for free means that they are easily accessible to all 4S users.

The iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 8GB are available now.

The New Samsung Galaxy Nexus-Battery Boost With New Update

Since it release towards the end of 2011 the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been a success with consumers thanks to its excellent operating system and stylish design. As with most new handsets however there are several problems that users have encountered when using this model. Programmers at XDA Developers have now launched an update for this model that seems to resolve many of these issues.

One area where the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has encountered some problems is when sending an MMS message. Many users have experienced problems when they attach a photograph to a message and this content is never sent to the intended recipient. Many users have got around the problem by downloading a separate application to perform this task but sending the data with the built in application is a much faster and more simple affair. This new update cured this issue and from reports that we have heard nobody has encountered any further problems in this area. Several other improvements are apparent after installing this unofficial update. The volume during calls has also been improved after many people reported that call quality was poor due to them being unable to clearly hear who they were speaking to. Users have also noted that the camera application now launches much quicker than before meaning that you are more likely to capture the moment perfectly. Battery life has also been considerably boosted and one person reported that 15 hours of use on the phone only consumed just 11% of the battery capacity.

Despite these well documented issues the Samsung Galaxy Nexus remains one of the leading mobile handsets currently available. The device is the first model released to incorporate the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system which offers numerous improvements over earlier versions including improved visuals and faster operation. Another area that really impresses us with this new model is the high definition quality display. This screen shows a resolution of 280 x 720 pixels and measures 4.65 inches which not only makes it one of the largest displays available but also one of the best. Although the large screen size means that the phone is not one of the smallest available it does have advantages in many areas including web browsing, movie playback and mobile gaming. Looks wise the model catches the eye with its slim profile and neatly curved edges. Physical buttons are kept to a minimum and the front of the model is dominated by the large screen.

There are many reasons why consumers are opting for the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The update launched by XDA Developers eliminates the few problems that the model did encounter and the final result is a near faultless smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy R are available now.

The New iPhone 5-New Model Set To Repel Water

As the release of the iPhone 5 draws closer we are learning more details on various features that are set to be incorporated on this excellent new model. It is already known that the device will feature a more powerful chipset along with a larger display. Here we have a look at some other new ideas set to be introduced on this forthcoming model.

The new iPhone 5 looks set to be the first iPhone to feature a special waterproof coating. This new coating is developed by a company called Liquipel and also looks set to be used on the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S3. This special coating will be used on the internal elements of the phone in addition to the outer shell. This is great news for more careless users and can save a lot of money on very expensive repairs and replacements. Normally when water enters the body of a phone the chances are that the phone will cease to function although some users have been lucky enough to revive their device by allowing it to dry out completely. Although this new treatment does not mean that you can use your phone in water is does help protect the device in case of accident.

When the iPhone 4S was launched in 2011 it boasted a brand new version of the famous iOS operating system. It is widely predicted that the new iPhone 5 will be accompanied by another new version that will offer many improvements to the consumer. It is expected that iOS6 will incorporate a new data control interface named Persistent Overlay. In November Apple submitted a patent for this feature which uses new way of managing all data that is displayed on your device from media files to web pages. This would be a changed welcomed by many iOS users as although the current interface is easy to use and very functional it does lack the visual appeal of other systems such as Android and Windows 7.5. It is unlikely that many new features will be present on this new software and any changes will relate to navigation and design which should help to make the platform the number one mobile operating system.

The new waterproof coating that is set to be used on the new iPhone 5 is an exciting development which will add to the appeal of this new model. Predicted changes in the operating system should breath new life into the excellent but slightly dated interface that has been used on iPhone models for over three years.

The iPhone 5 is coming soon and the iPhone 4S is available now.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Attracts New Smartphone Owners

The range of modern smartphones available is increasing at a fast rate and many consumers who would have once opted for a feature phone are now finding themselves either owning or considering a smartphone. There are a number of smartphone operating systems available to choose from but the front runners are undoubtedly the Google Android service which offers excellent models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Apple iOS system which is used by the famous iPhone.

A new report reveals that first time smartphone buyers are favouring the Android platform over other formats such as iOS and Windows. According to market research firm NPD Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 dominated the market among first time buyers in Q4 of 2011 with a massive 53% share. Apple followed in second place with 34% which left the remaining 9% to be shared between alternative platforms. The gap between Android and Apple is much closer in terms of general smartphone sales but these figures for first time buyers may not come as a great surprise. Android is the platform used by major manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC and Motorola which means that consumers have a wide choice of devices from premium smartphones like the Galaxy S2 to smaller budget devices such as the HTC Desire S. Apple simply offer the new iPhone 4S or an older version which may be a reason while Android is currently dominating. In the US the Apple iPhone runs on three of the major network providers while Android phones run on all four which means potentially more customers also have access to one of these devices.

As we previously mentioned there is a massive selection of Android handsets available to tempt consumers who are looking to purchase their first smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is undoubtedly the most well known of these models. This handset is the flagship model in the exciting Galaxy range of models and went on to become the biggest selling phone of 2011. The device boasts a dual core processor to help it deliver a very fast operating speed while the gorgeous 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display looks fantastic. First time consumers however may not be looking for such high specification on their first purchase and a more simple option is the excellent HTC Explorer. This entry level phone boasts all of the connectivity options that users look for in a smartphone but in a compact design with more basic camera and video features. There are also a wealth of models that can be classed as mid range devices including the Samsung Galaxy R which is a more basic version of the Galaxy S2 and also the hugely popular HTC Desire S.

Although the gap between Android and Apple is decreasing in terms of general sales it is evident that Android is still the platform of choice for newcomers to the smartphone scene. Models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 offer a multitude of great features but there are plenty of cheaper models available to suit all requirements.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Explorer are available now.

Data Network Upgrade To Benefit iPhone 4S Users

The iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are two advanced mobile smartphones that are capable of picking up a HSPA+ mobile date signal. Unfortunately in the UK there are no mobile networks that currently support this type of system. This looks set to change however with network provider Three announcing plans to launch the service later in 2012.

At present iPhone 4S users in the UK can enjoy mobile data transfer speeds of 21Mbps which enables users to experience a satisfactory web browsing experience when they are on the move. This transfer speed is ample for uploading media to social networking sites and also for general web browsing. This speed however can be improved and the new HSPA+ service will double the current data transfer speed to 42Mbps to give users an even faster online experience. With Three making this announcement it is anticipated that other UK network providers such as O2 and Vodafone will launch services of their own so their customers can take advantage of these faster speeds. This improved service will benefit all areas of mobile internet use but it will be especially noticeable on sites that offer video content which is where many current devices may experience a delay when trying to view material.

The iPhone 4S offers a wealth of alternative connectivity options so that all users can experience a great online experience regardless of their location. At present the phone does offer HSPA on a 3G network for the fastest mobile speeds however 3G coverage does not reach every part of the country so it is pleasing to see some very capable alternatives in place. The model can connect to an EDGE network which offers speeds that are not at fast as 3G but still ample to provide a good service. If users have access to a WiFi network then this method will give you the fastest possible online speeds. The phone supports all three recognised speeds of WiFi including the new “N” standard. Obviously this method is only viable when you are within range of a recognised network but the phone does remember security details meaning that the device will always automatically connect to this network when within range without you needing to enter access keys and passwords.

The iPhone 4S features some advanced connectivity options to ensure users can enjoy browsing the internet at all times. The announcement that Three will be launching an HSPA+ service in the coming months will further enhance the excellent facilities already offered by this model.

The iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 8GB are available now.

The New Samsung Galaxy S2-Some Super Fitness Software Available

Recently we took a look at the iPhone 4S and how it could benefit users who were looking to use gym facilities or lose weight with a number of superb applications. We though that it would only be fair if we looked at some similar features available for the Samsung Galaxy S2, the device that became the best selling phone of 2011 and remains one of the most popular handsets on the market.

Many of the applications that we highlighted in our recent look at the iPhone 4S are also available for the Samsung Galaxy S2 so we will not look at these again as the functionality is identical on both devices. There are several superb applications available that can help S2 users reach their fitness goals. Everybody know that drinking plenty of water is vital for anybody who is looking to lose weight. The problem is that many of us do not consume the recommended levels so an excellent, simple new app is available to help in this area. Drinking Water is developed by Chickpin and is available for free form the Android marketplace. This simple software allows you to specify how many glasses of water you would like to drink per day and enables you to check them off as you consume them. When using this application the Galaxy S2 can also alert you when you are due another glass by activating an alarm. If you have been drinking too much alcohol and not enough water then the Beergut Fitness application lets you tell the phone how many drinks you have consumed and the device will then calculate how much walking, cycling or running you need to perform to work these calories off. The application is not designed to be a complete fitness plan but it is a very useful tool if you are feeling guilty about a night out or a few drinks at a restaurant.

If you are looking to use your Samsung Galaxy S2 as part of a more structured fitness regime there are some excellent applications available for users of all fitness levels. The excellent C25K application aims to take a beginner and have them comfortably running 5km within nine weeks. The software schedules a number of runs over the nine week period that increase in intensity each week. When you are jogging the software gives you audio alerts that tell you when to increase or decrease your pace. If you prefer to use the services of a gym then Jefit is a superb application for both newcomers and experienced gym users. This software tracks all of your repetitions and routines and generates a number of body statistics that inform you of what areas are benefiting most from your regime. Over 500 different exercises are included on the application which is available for free from the Android marketplace. If you opt to purchase the premium edition this will set you back £4.99 but it dispenses with adverts and also gives you access to a more detailed analysis of your workout.

Modern mobile phones are the perfect accessory for anybody who is looking to lose weight or keep fit and the Samsung Galaxy S2 is no exception. Whether you simply want to be more careful about what you eat or you want to build fitness levels by running or using a gym there are numerous excellent applications available to help you in this area.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are available now.

The Sony Xperia S And How The New Smart tag Accessories Work

The new Sony Xperia S is a phone that is destined to be a massive success with consumers thanks to some of the excellent features that it boasts. One such feature is NFC, a new type of short range wireless connectivity that will enable users to enjoy new functionality such as automatic payment for goods and services. Sony have introduced another great use for NFC technology in the form of Smart Tags which we look at in a little more detail here.

Smart Tags are small coin sized tokens that send a series of commands to the Sony Xperia S that instruct the phone to perform certain functions. At this moment in time the tags enable you change your current profile on the device automatically in certain situations. When you first enter your house after being at work or school for the day many users will activate the WiFi features on their phone so that they can connect to their home network. Other users may chose to disable the GPS features so they do not place additional strain on the battery. One of these new Smart Tags can be programmed to automatically perform all of these functions. This would mean that the user could simply walk through their door and swipe their handset over this Tag and these changes would instantly be applied to the phone. When retiring to bed for the night a simple swipe could put the phone into silent mode and activate the alarm. The are numerous possibilities where these exciting new innovations can benefit the everyday use of the phone.

Obviously all of the tasks that Smart Tags perform on the Sony Xperia S can be done manually by the user but there is no doubt that they do make using the phone a much easier and less time consuming affair. It is widely expected that we see a release date in the second quarter of 2012 for these useful new innovations. In terms of retail price we should expect a price of around £25 for a set of four tokens. Although NFC is only currently available on a handful of devices the introductions of these Tags suggests that the technology is set to be adopted by many new models that are released. In addition to the functions we have discussed and the ability to pay for services with your phone there are other potential uses for this new technology. The system could replace Bluetooth as a means of data transfer between two handsets. Users can swap audio files or photographs quickly, securely and easily with NFC. Posters and advertisements at public locations can incorporate the technology to allow users to get additional information about the product or service being advertised. As more NFC devices are released we can expect even more uses for this technology to be made available.

The Sony Xperia S is an exciting new handset and when combined with a set of Smart Tags the device becomes even more appealing. NFC technology is a key feature on this phone and also looks set to be introduced on many more devices over the coming months.

The Sony Xperia S and the iPhone 5 are coming soon.
